Twelve Month Visit

Things to look forward to at a year old.....
Nutrition: Whole Milk and eating Table Foods (Alex has been trying new things everyday, from ham, turkey, pork shops, steak and much more)!
We suggest offering water in a cup a number of times a day. Have water available to your child at all times. No more then 4 - 6 oz of juice per day and no more than 16 - 20 oz of milk per day. Too much juice or milk can fill up your child's stomach and decrease their appetite.
Milk: 3 each day (about 800mg of calcium)
Milk 3/4cups
Mild Cheese 1 slice
Cottage Cheese 1/4cup
Yogurt 1/2cup
Meat and Protein Sources: 2 servings each day
Lean meat, chicken, turkey, or fish 1 -2 ounces
Eggs 1
Beans 1/2cup
Meat dishes, stews, casseroles 1/2cup
Cottage cheese 1/4cup
Fruits and Vegtables: 4-6 servings each day
Fruit Juice 1/2cup
Fresh or canned fruit 1/4 - 1/2cup
Vegetables 1/4 - 1/2cup
Breads and Cereals: 6 or more cervings each day
Bread 1/2 slice
Roll of biscuit 1/2
Rice 1/4cup
Mashed or boiled potato 1/4cup
Crackers 1/2cup
Pasta 1/2cup
Teeth: Now that Alex has teeth it is important to brush her teeth everyday. We dont have to use tooth paste but this will introduce her to the tooth brush.
Sleep: Alex should be sleeping 10 - 12 hours each night with 1 or 2 naps during the day. Alex usually goes to sleep around 8:30pm and wakes up around 7:30am. She is usually a good sleeper!
-We now have a touch and go child. SHe touches everything in sight and then goes on to something new! Now is the time to make sure everything in child-proofed including the lawn and garge.
-Walking and crawling children at this age have more courage and often go down unguarded stairways or fall off furniture; constantly supervise.
