Is She Really

Getting that big?
Saying the things she says?
Ready to be a big sister?
Potty Trained?

I got Alex all dressed to go play outside with the big boys today. Knowing she wouldn't last long but she wanted to go outside and I needed time to pick up the kitchen. With her and the two boys outside and Sophia watching from inside it was easy for me to clean up lunch. I would just watch out the kitchen window as she made her way around the yard eating the snow.

IS SHE REALLY THAT BIG?

Is this the little tiny 6 lbs girl I gave birth to a little less then 3 years ago? How can she have grown so much and how can she be such a little lady now? Where does time go?

So I just watched her for a little while and took it all in. She sure is not my baby anymore ( she will always be my baby but you know what I mean ) and she has to be one of the cutest little girls I have ever seen.

She is my Alexandra, My Big Girl, Miss Sassy, My Little Lady!

The past few days we have been working on Potty Training. This is something we have tried and failed at a few times. We knew she had been ready for some time, but I never wanted to push it and I was sick of failing at potty training her so we took some time off and I stopped asking her and I just let it be.

Then I told you about the call I got from my husband and I decided I might as well give it another try. Well we tried and we haven't looked back since. With only wearing a diaper at night time and in long car rides ( to and from North Dakota ) I think it is safe to say we have a potty trained two and a half year old ( that's how old she is if you ask her ).

We have only had 4 or 5 accidents and non of them being poppy. The only time Alex will have an accident is when she is wearing underwear. So as of right now, she wears comfortable pants without underwear. Sometimes she will do fine with underwear on and other times she will think of it like a diaper and wet her pants. So we have made the choice to let her go without underwear until she is a little more trained.

I LOVE IT! I love not having to change a diaper on her 5 to 6 times a day. I love that my trash cans don't smell and we don't have to worry about diaper rashes anymore. I love how her little butt looks in her pants now. I love that she wants high fives from everyone around her once she has gone pee or poop. Most of all I LOVE that she is so proud of herself and knows that she no longer needs a diaper on.

She is extremely independent when it comes to going on the potty. She doesn't need your help until she is done and wants her pants put back on. She shuts the door and she gets herself on to the big toilet, as she wants nothing to do with a little potty.

Last night she had to go to the bathroom and got herself undressed and up on the toilet in my bathroom. She went pee and got herself down and said she had to go poop and ran into her bathroom which was across the hall. I followed her to that bathroom to make sure she wasn't just playing around.

She slammed the door on my face and yelled

"MOOOM . . . I NEED MY PYVACY"

"I NEED MY PYVACY MOM"

I almost wet myself I was laughing so hard. So her PYVACY I gave her and still can't believe that my "Big Girl" is potty trained.

We are going to the Mall of America or the Minnesota Zoo tomorrow and I have packed an extra 3 outfits. I am hoping she won't have any accidents but we have not spent more then an hour away from home where she knows exactly where the toilets are.

Another Note - these pictures where taken while we where in North Dakota at Grandma and Grandpas house. I didn't have my camera with me today so I have no pictures of her wandering around the back yard with the boys.

She is such a sweetie! It is hard watching our sweet girls grow up and exciting at the same time. I know once Lillian was potty trained last Jan. it really felt like she was a big girl. It is so much easier to get out the door and just run somewhere, but on the other hand we have to use icky public restrooms! lol Happy New Year!

Congrats on the potty training! Melody just trained as well...she was totally ready and I was relieved that it was a snap. It just takes a while for "holding it" to be a habit, after that she'll be fine in undies, I'm sure.

Yeah Alex! It is so nice to be done with that....at least for a few months right!

I was detemined to have Henry done before Sophie came b/c I was surely not going to have three in diapers.

Now we are almost ready to get Karley out...we are, but we'll see how she feels about it.

Congrats!
