Simply Classic Photography

When I married Chad I told him that I wanted to buy a "nice" camera with some of our wedding money.  He told me that he could not see me carrying around a "big" camera and he didn't think that I would use it that much.  I really proved him wrong and after about a 6 months of having my "nice" camera I started starting my own photography business in which I named, Simply Classic Photography.

I have been starting this business for the last 3 years and I still feel like I am starting it.  I didn't go to school for photography, I didn't take out a loan, I don't have a studio and everything is a work in progress.  I have gotten a lot from Christmas and my Birthday which has been very helpful.

There is still so much I need.
I could use a ton of new props, headbands, hats, bow ties / ties, baskets, blankets, backdrops and more.
I really need a new bean bag that is meant for newborns, I know I need an extra full puck style.
I need a new travel size back drop so that I can start doing more in home photography.
Most of all I need a few new lenses so that my pictures are a little more clear, crisp, sharp . . .
All the things listed above are things that will only improve my photography.
Things that I will one day need to have to be the photographer that I long to be.

I hope to someday go back to school, finish my business degree and take more marketing classes.  I hope to find a place that offers different types of photography classes so that I can learn new things, different techniques.

I am proud of where I am today with photography but there are so many more things I want to do and learn.  There is so much more that I can do with photography and I hope to one day be a photographer and have that be my only job ( on top of being a mom and wife of course ).

You can stop by my photography blog : Simply Classic Photography

It is a work in progress and I will be hopefully switching a few things up in the near future.
Once I find someone that can help me change those things up that is
( I want to add a slide show at the top, change the colors and back ground and do a few other little touches ).

The month of May will be / has been very busy.

Does anyone have any tips for advertising?

I am going only on word of mouth right now and though it is working I would love for it to work a little bit more.  I don't have the money to put into advertising but I need to find better or more efficient ways which is hard when no money is involved.

Hope Everyone Had A Happy Mothers Day!

I think Facebook has become a great way to grow a business. I have a friend who was a stay at home Mom with no real experince being a photography. Now she is thriving. She will be taking family pics. for us in July. You can have friends and family like your page and offer mini sessions at a smaller fee at first and around special holidays. That can really help build clients! Good luck.

I'm trying to do the same thing and I was hoping to get more business from word of mouth, and it still hasn't picked up like I wanted. Oh well. It will come, good luck!

I work by all word of mouth too. In this day, it is all about who you know and who your friends know. You are awesome and I send all my friends your way. (including my daycare families)
