One Cold Weekend....

For awhile now Bob and I had planned on taking ALL the kids up to his parents house...
For a long weekend of winter activities, bonding time and relaxing!

Sadly his kids got really sick with the week leading up to our weekend away...
It was disappointing and I figured we would cancel the entire idea of heading up there...

It is tough, no matter what way you look at it...
Everyone parents different & has their own ways about doing things...
A blended family by no means is gonna be easy, it will always be work...

My girls where disappointed...
My girls where sad & a little let down...
But in the end we understood & only wished they got better!

Bob called me around 5 on Thursday night...
Said get ready and get here we are going...
Good thing we where pretty much packed...
and where able to just jump in the car and head to his place.

I was surprised we where taking off...
But with his kids so sick, in all honesty...
They where better off with their mom fighting off the icky virus.

We got to Bobs place around 6:30 or so...
Which means we didn't pull into his parents place until a little after midnight.

We pulled the snowmobiles up there...
Thankfully my "SUV" did a great job...

Friday we spent the first part of the day...
Out side in the cold watching the little ones snowmobile around...

I love seeing them smile and enjoying themselves...
They absolutely love it and that makes me one happy mommy!

Avin seems to be a little more adventurous then Alex...
But then again Alex is the one driving and she defiantly is cautious.
Not to mention she has tipped the things a few times, she needs to give it a little more gas!

( melt my heart... holding her hand )

I can sit here with the biggest smile on my face & tears rolling down my cheeks...
But no one will know just how grateful I am for this man...

To watch their bond grow...
My girls and the man I love...

To be grateful that he is patient with them...
To be so thankful that they enjoy time together...
They look up to him and love when he is around...
To love that he is teaching them all sorts of new adventurous things..

After snowmobiling and messing around outside in the cold...
We call came in, Bobs mom and I headed to the grocery store...
while the others stayed home and relaxed.

When we got back...
Bob, the girls and I trekked back out into the cold
for some first time ice fishing...

Once we got everything set up...
Bob took the snowmobile out there...
and luckily his dad drove me and the girls to the lake...

It was actually warm and cozy inside that little fish house...
Even with the wind blowing like crazy...
that little heater kept it toasty inside.

We weren't exactly ready for ice fishing...
We had no bait, so we really didn't think we would catch anything...
But the girls were just excited to see what this was all about...
and to get a few little nibbles, as well as see the fish on the little monitor thingy.

It was cold...
That little snow was like ice hitting your face...
Of course that was just while we were setting up, going back and forth...
Though it was a lot of fun and I can't wait to do it again...
I am glad we were only out there for an hour that first time!

We headed back to his parents for the night...
The girls played, hung out with his parents and us...
We had a nice dinner together thanks to his mom...

We all slept so well and woke up to the same cold weather...
We hung out inside for awhile then we ventured out into that bitter cold...
Bob made some new tracks for us and took us out for a bit on the sleds.

We spent about an hour out there, Alex driving the little sled the entire time...
She did awesome, watching her sure made me proud.

Alex was cold and wanted to go in...
Avin was not ready to be done.

So Bob, Avin and I took off on the trails to find a place to grab a bite to eat..
The trails here were a lot nicer in my opinion then up at the cabin...
They were wider so I wasn't as scared of hitting a tree.

Avin did awesome...
She loves it though her boots were falling off...
Need to find some hooks to go from her snow pants around her boots.

We made it to a place called Scenic Pines...
We got burgers and noodles...
& we watched deer feed from their feeders.

When we got back Bob and I loaded everything up...
and just hung out for the rest of the night...

We had to head home early in the morning...
The girls and I had a birthday party for Ciro to get too.

When we woke up the temperature some crazy cold...
The car read -34 as we where pulling out to head home.
I had to document that one, never seen a temp that cold!

We had such a great weekend...
Though we missed his kids...
I am glad we were still able to go...
These are times I won't ever forget!

I absolutely love the memories that we are making together...
I love that we are becoming a family...
I love being able to look forward into the future and know that he will be right by our sides.

I love these three...
My girls and my man...
so so so so so so so MUCH!
